This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Beautiful Print 1840's Dress
From the seller:
A fetching 1840-1850 cotton print dress. The fabric has a blue, gray and red floral print pattern. The sleeves have a short cap over sleeve. The neckline, armscyes and waist are all piped. The bodice is lined with linen and has a hook and eyehole closure. The skirt is attached to the waist with cartridge pleating. It is unlined. The dress is in good and study condition. There are a few small holes and scattered period mends on the shoulders, sleeve cuffs, back opening on the bodice and under one arm. The skirt hemline has a 19 inch mend. Most of the mends are not noticeable because of the print. The rest of the fabric is in sturdy condition. Bust 36 Waist 26 Skirt length 40 Width at hemline 160.
From Me:
All the above are fashion plates from 1845. The double sleeve look was a thing for a good part of the 1840's.
