This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

American Civil War Era Dress
From the seller:
A fetching 1860’s Civil War era black, gray and white plaid silk dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a museum collection. The bodice has full pagoda style sleeve that are trimmed with silk fringe and black silk ribbon bows. The front of the bodice is decorated with black silk tassels. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front hook and eye closure. The neck. armscyes and waist are piped. The skirt is fully lined with cotton. The dress is in good display condition. Each shoulder has 2 inch surface only splits on the shoulders, underarm discoloration and surface only stress breaks under the arms from ¼ inch to ½ inch. There is a two inch soil mark near the front waist. The reserve reflects the age flaws. Bust 34 Waist 26 Skirt length 41 Width at hemline 160.
From Me:
I'm not normally for the 1860's styles but I really like this dress! The bow on the sleeves is just too cute along with the tassels for buttons on the front of the dress. Very styling.
