This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Teen's Era Summer Dress
From the seller:
This is a Lovely Antique Vintage Edwardian Batiste Lawn Dress from the 1900’s!
LABEL: none
Fabric is a light-weight, semi-sheer cotton batiste… white in colour. Bodice is lined with a light-weight, semi-sheer cotton/nylon blend netting.
Design: small portrait style collar that continues down front as lapels with 3 fixed pleats, trimmed in drawnwork, finished with a ruffle -- ending in waist seam… squared neckline… 13 decorative buttons down center front bodice… ¾ length sleeves with like pleats, drawnwork, and ruffle at cuffs – like the front of bodice… fixed waist… ¾ length fuller skirt with two rows of horizontal pleats and ruffles… metal snap closure down left of center of bodice – along waist – and down left side of skirt.
Very Good Vintage Condition!! I found 8 small holes along the skirt that could be patched – see photos. The largest measuring 3/8th inch in diameter. The edge of the ruffles along the sleeve cuffs and collar are raw. They used to be finished with a tight – roll-like edge but has come unraveled. Still looks fabulous – see photo for comparison of finished edge and raw edge. There can be found a smattering of orange/brown dots at the back near the waist – see photos. This may or may not come out with a cleaning. A fabulous piece of history!
MEASUREMENTS:
Bust: 33-34”
Waist: 23”
Hips: Full (54”)
Length: 43”
Sleeve Inseam: 9.5”
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 13” across the back
From Me:
Actually, it's from the 1910's. :-) I really like this one. Cute buttons, nice frothy ruffles - it's just cute.
