Reproduction (?) 1914 Dress

From the seller:

Absolutely stunning ,romantic,sweet afternoon Art Nouveau dress, could

easily have been worn as a wedding dress.

This dress has a high waist,but not quite a empire waist.

The cummerbund featured, did not come with this dress,but a similar

was surely worn or it was worn with a wide ribbon.

Cummerbund is not included in auction.It will be sold separately.

The top part has many fine sewn pleats.

The sleeves are cut fairly full with lace inserted and several fine

more narrow lace pieces.

The skirt part has a soft peplum overskirt with embroidered wedding wreaths.

The hem of the peplum has squared off scallops, the details of this dress is

so amazing.

The bolero is cut a little more loose ,and is entirely made of thin strips

of linen and very fine lace. The bolero`s two front panels are a little longer

and dip down in front.

Material : White embroidered handkerchief linen

Lined : No

Waist : 26" to 27"

Bust : 40" ( fairly full ) the corset brought that bust up

Hips :38"
Length : 53 1/2"

Sleeves : 12"

Across back between shoulders : 13"

Bolero length : 15"

Bolero width in the back : 26"

Condition : Great,a few pinholes,this dress is in great for its age

Condition chart:

$ MINT : Either, never worn or still with tags,
its in pristine condition
* Excellent : Worn, but does not show any signs of wear,
that I can see.
+ Great : Worn but near perfect . Small signs here and there .
Pinholes barely detectable flaws, remember it is vintage.
~ Good: Still wearable but needs repair ( new zippers,small holes ,
fading repairs, etc.) AS IS
! Fair : Most likely not wearable for study or pattern making.




From Me:

The style is correct for the mid teens but the lace along the sleeves looks very new. Also, the belt looks new too. My guess is this is a reproduction and not an extant gown. I wanted to post it anyway to show how difficult it is sometimes to tell the difference.
