This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late 18th Century Calash, Green
From the seller:
Exceptionally hard to find Calash, in beautiful jewel tone green. Made with bent reeds, to create a collapsible hood to protect elaborate 18thc hair. Lined with very simple cream muslin and entirely hand made. Splits along the reeds and a later ribbon in front that should probably be either removed or replaced. Beautiful construction. Please see photos and email with questions. Thanks much for looking.
From Me:
I *think* this is probably 1780's but I might be off. It's not huge, like the 1770's ones are, but it has the same styling as other 18th C Calash's I've seen.
