This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Early American Civil War Dress
From the seller:
A stunning 1860’s bronze and black stripe satin dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a museum collection. The fabric has a ribbon stripe pattern. The bonze stripe has a small black pattern and the black stripe has a tiny bronze floral pattern. The bodice has bell shaped sleeves and a short cap over sleeve. The over sleeve is trimmed with cotton braiding. The neck, armscyes and waist are piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front hook and eye closure. The skirt is unlined except for a wide band of cotton at the edge of the hemline. The dress is in very good condition. There is some underarm discoloration and a small amount of stress wear to the bodice fabric near the front waist area. There is some age discoloration on the inside bodice lining that does not show on the satin fabric. A beautiful display dress. Bust 32 Waist 24 Front skirt length 39 Back length 44 Width at hemline 154.
From Me:
Based on the sleeves and skirt shape, I think about 1861 on this beauty.
