American Civil War Era Rose Print Dress with Green Trim








From the seller:

A stunning 1860’s rose floral print light brown stripe silk dress. The bodice has full pagoda style sleeves. The front of the bodice, sleeves and skirt front are trimmed with green silk rosettes. The sleeves are also trimmed with wide bands of the same green silk. The neck, armscyes and waist are piped The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front hook and eye closure. The full skirt is lined with cotton. The dress is in good vintage condition. The age flaws consists of breaks in the fabric on the bodice front waist area, the underarms and the front of the skirt near the waist. (See photos.) There is one 5 inch period mend on the back of the skirt in the mid section that is hard to see. There are a few other minor age flaws. Most of the flaws are not visible when displayed. A wonderful display dress made of exquisite fabric. Bust 32 Waist 22 Front Skirt length 39 Back length 45 Width at hemline 154.

  1. LOL! Switch the green for a dark brown, and I'd love this dress. I'm very conservative in my color combinations. ;-)

    1. I'd probably switch it up with a rosy pink myself - I look rather horrible in greens. I'd also take away the clown buttons and add a HUGE pink sash around the waist with the biggest bum bow I could. Cause it's period and therefore, awesome.

  2. I was trying to convince myself that the rosettes would be pretty if they weren't mashed, but that's stretching it. The wide sash and big bum bow sound gorgeous!

    1. No matter how hard you try, the big green rosettes will look like clown buttons. I have seen some CW period rosettes that are lovely but...not these.
