This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Poss. Half Mourning Bonnet
From the seller:
This ca. 1912 Edwardian mauve cocoa brown silk hat with netting features black velvet bows, cocoa brown netting and black velvet chin strap. It has stylish circular ruching at the back and is on a covered wire form. It has a label that says" The Dayton Company Minneapolis ". It is lined in black silk. The trim is black velvet bows across the front and sides with a long velvet ribbon chin strap. It sits on the back of the head. The condition is good with some edge wear to the silk along the bonnet edge. A wonderful Edwardian gem for display or for theater or reenactments or to wear.....you decide. Waiting for you and destined to become a favorite. please email me with any questions. International bidders feel free to email me for a shipping quote. Thanks for looking ...........
From Me:
Probably 1870's.
The overall shape is similar to the bonnet in the fashion plate. The lavender, gray tulle, black velvet - all half mourning colors. I think the tulle is just dirty - it doesn't look like brown at all to me.
