This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. Victorian Quilted Petticoat

Antique Victorian green Silk Quilted Petticoat. Great condition with some signs of wear as shown in pictures. It is lined with 2
different type of calicos.
Measurements :
Waist: 12 inches laying flat
Waist to hem: 32 1/2 inches
Around bottom hem: 36 inches laying flat

These quilted petticoats are so hard to date because they were popular for a number of years. Based on the calicos, I think this is from the 1860's. Here is a sampler pack of calicos that have a similar look to the ones inside the petticoat. The sampler pack dates from the 1860's. Another example of cottons circa 1860.
