1850s Ballgown Bodice in Blue

From the seller:

VINTAGE 1860'S CIVIL WAR ERA BODICE

FABRIC IS A PRETTY SHADE OF ROYAL BLUE IN A SILK TAFFETA

LINED IN A IVORY COTTON TYPE FABRIC, SLEEVES ARE LINED IN IVORY SILK

HAND WRITTEN NAME INSIDE IS LEE LOOMIS

BODICE HAS STAYS AND IS BLUE STITCHING FOR DESIGN, SEE PICS

LOOKS LIKE IT IS DOUBLED DARTED

I AM NOT SURE IF I HAVE THIS BODICE PICTURED RIGHT, I THINK THE HOOKS SHOULD BE IN FRONT, I HAVE IT PICTURED WITH THE HOOKS IN BACK

ALL OLD BRASS HOOKS AND EYES

HAS A ROUNDED NECKLINE AT THE BASE OF THE NECK

SLEEVES ARE SET LOW ON THE SHOULDERS

EPAULET SLEEVES ARE LONGER ON ONE SIDE, THEY SPIT OPEN IN THE MIDDLE AND ARE SHORTER ON THE OTHER SIDE

SLEEVES HAVE TUCKS AND ARE TRIMMED IN A BLACK LACE ON THE EDGES, BLUE CORDING OUTLINES THE SLEEVES

POINTED BODICE FRONT AND BACK

THIS BODICE HAS ONE SMALL HOLE ON THE BACK, AND THE 1 FRONT POINT HAS A SMALL RIP IN THE FABRIC

THE INSIDE DOES HAVE SOME STAINS AND UNDERARM STAINS THAT DO NOT SHOW ON THE OUTSIDE, BODICE IS STRONG AND HAS A LOT OF LIFE LEFT

BEAUTIFULLY SEWN

BUST 34

WAIST 27

SHOULDER TO WAIST 12 ON THE SIDES 17 TO THE PONTS

SLEEVE LENGTH 4.5 AND 7

ARM HOLE 13

From Me:

Based on the shoulders, the extra wide sleeves, and the point at the front of the bodice, I think this is about 1858.
