This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Mid 1860's Brown Plaid Dress
From the seller:
An enchanting 1860’s Civil War era taupe plaid silk dress. The fabric has a white and beige plaid pattern on a taupe background. The background fabric has a tiny dot pattern. The yoke and sleeve cuffs are trimmed with self-fabric pleated ruffles. The armscyes and waist are piped. The bodice and skirt are lined with cotton. The bodice has a front mother of pearl button closure. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There is some minor underarm discoloration and 1 inch split under one arm near the seam that will need minor re-stitching. The lining inside the bodice is splitting. (See photo.). The age flaws are not visible when displayed. A lovely display ONLY dress. Bust 34 Waist 26 Skirt length 39 Width at hemline 148.
From Me:
I'm thinking about 1864/1865 based on the waistline and trim placement.
