This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1880's Bustle Era Dress
From the seller:
1884 Vintage Antique Victorian Handmade Dark Blue/Green Wedding Dress
w skirt, bustle and jacket.
This is a family members hand stitched wedding dress from 1884. Contains a dark blue or green skirt with
bustle and jacket with so many hook and eye closures and lace cuffs.
Will be shipped in wedding gown box.
From Me:
The pleated front on the bodice was popular in the mid 1880's. I doubt it was a wedding dress - and it probably was dyed black originally only to fade to the dark blue. We still see that with modern dyes. I'm pretty sure this is a second mourning dress based on the color, the lack of luster in the fabric, and the overall lack of ornamentation other than the self trim. There is the lace cuffs but I think those might have been added later.
