Black Early Bustle Dress With Velvet Trims

From the seller:
A stunning 1880’s three piece black silk bustle dress that has recently been de-accessioned from the Rochester Historical Society Museum collection. The ensemble consists of a bodice, over skirt and under skirt. The bodice yoke is pleated and has a tab front button closure. The bodice is lined with cotton. The overskirt is trimmed with black velvet cross over lattice design and beaded black silk fringe. The side has a large black silk and velvet bow. The over skirt is unlined. The under skirt is lined with cotton and has a bustle back. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There is no underarm discoloration. There are small period mends under each arm. Bust 35 Waist 26 Skirt length 41.

From Me:

1875 Fashion Plate

The seller actually had the correct decade in the title of the auction (1870's) which makes me wonder if someone else wrote the write up for it. Although this is not mourning wear, I thought the sober color was appropriate.
