This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1870's Bustle Era Dress
From the seller:
SHEER ELEGANCE!!
This well made ( hand and machine ) suit is
in outstanding antique condition!
The lady was very petite...my dress form was
way to large to close the jacket.
The jacket is accented with charming ruffle:
The front is also adorned with buttons(these are
just for show as the front is secured with hook and eyes,
and all there)
Measurements:
Shoulder to shoulder seam:16"
Neck to shoulder seam:6.5"
Shoulder seam to cuff:20"
Under arm to arm : 15.5"
Waist :13"
Neck to jacket hem : 18"
( 2 small holes on left sleeve)
Bustle Skirt:
Waist : 26" around
Waist to skirt hem : 42"
The color: olive green with a light green stripe
plus little flecks of gold stripes.
(lining on font of skirt as a few very small holes..
hole on bottom front by hem, please view photo#4&5 ,
plus a small slip in back about an inch long with a few small
holes)
The material... I'm guessing...a wool blend ????
Just a wonderful antique garment to add to your collection
Acquired from a very old home estate sale...
being sold "AS FOUND" I have not cleaned or altered in any way.
I'm sure once cleaned it will be even "MORE" outstanding!
Thank you for looking!
From Me:
The only period wool blends I know of are with cotton, linen, or silk. So, I'm guessing, it's probably all wool. ;-)
