This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late 1920's Dress
From the seller:
1920's Heavily Beaded Black Silk Chiffon Flapper Dress b- 41
This lovely 1920s' beaded flapper dress is made from black silk chiffon and has flowers or dots made from heavy white opaque glass seed beads. It ties at the neck with silk ribbon with white beaded fringe on the ends. There are tabs on the sides at the hips that gathers the fabric a little on the hips, one needs to be secured. One beaded dot is missing the beads in the center, some seams are pulled open and there are scattered small holes, over a black slip, most would not show, but there are some on the shoulders and neck. It measures 41 inches around the bust, across the back shoulder is 14, waist is 36, hips are 47 and it's approx. 42 1/2 inches long. It was de-accessioned from a museum and is in very good vintage condition.
From Me:
This would be a great dress to recreate for anyone interested in starting historical costuming. It really is two rectangles with two smaller rectangles for sleeves and ties at the side. A very simple cut but it's the fabric that makes the dress.
