This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late 1860's Yellow Bodice
From the seller:
BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN, THE PHOTOS ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION; This auction is for a very lovely original Victorian pre Civil War 1850s to early 1860s bodice that has lost its way from the skirt. The waistcincher Mdm ? MARIE TRAVER ROBES 2--- du MontThabor 28 PARIS and most likely the original owner, Mrs George Mixter - E. Johnson Scenely. A wonderful shade of dark taupe silk faille fabric decorated with lighter taupe matching fabric and fluted delicate sheer voille around the neckline and sleeve cuffs along with netting tulle around the neckline (it is damaged). Created with 5 short metal stays, there is a very much hand sewn work. Approx measurements are taken layin flat, closed and across; 33" - 34" bust, 24" waist. In overall very good condition, there is some stains, no holes and the buttons are missing. I wonderful acquisition for any serious collector.
From Me:
It's not Civil War. The high waist line and the bustle back tell us that. Here is a fashion plate with a very similar looking jacket from 1868:
This fashion plate is available on ebay right now.
