This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Titanic Era Dress
From the seller:
DESCRIPTION:
1900s 1910s Antique Vintage Edwardian Titanic Silk Wedding Dress
Exquisite design from a bygone era. Beautiful lace insets, flowing layered skirt with back train. Back closure. Please take into account that this is a fragile piece of history and may not be suitable for wear.
CONDITION: Good for its age with the following to note. There are faint discoloration marks, the silk is fragile, there is one tear at each armpit ( there was an attempt to repair one side) The hooks and eyes at the back require reinforcement and there are few are missing. There is dust on the train. The lace is dry. There is partial frayed lining inside the bodice. Do not miss out!
Bust(approx.): 32/33
Waist (approx.):24
Hips: 32/34
Length: shoulder to hem 54 (without the train), shoulder to waist 16
From Me:
Based on the handkerchief bust design, this is probably from about 1913. The blue/green dress in the first fashion plate on this page has the same bust design. This dress is more modest with it's lace inset.

What a GORGEOUS dress! (Even if it is post-1889 ;-) )
ReplyDeleteI really love the tassels on it and the embroidered lace insert myself. I might have to make one like it.:-)
