1820's Sheer Summer Dress

From the seller:

A rare and early 1830’s antique net lace evening dress. The dress is all hand stitched. The bodice has wide flared sleeves that are designed with Van Dyke points. The points are trimmed with ivory satin. The front and back of the bodice are softly ruched. The neckline, center front and shoulders are trimmed with bands of ivory satin. The dress has a high waist line. The waist is trimmed with a wide band of linen. The dress is unlined and has a back hook and loop closure. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There is a 1 inch tear at the back closure on the skirt and one small pea size hole near the skirt side seam. Bust 30 Waist 22 Skirt length 39. The dress is for display only and would make a wonderful addition to an early textile collection.

From Me:

This dress is from the later 1820's. The waistline is just starting to get to the natural waist but it's still a bit high for the 1830's. Also, the sleeve treatment was common in the later part of the 1820's. You can see several examples in these fashion plates from 1829. You also see some examples in 1827 of the dagged sleeves or sleeve caps.
