This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late Victorian (?) Shoes!
From the seller:
These shoes are in poor condition, and yet they retain a certain romantic charm. Until recently they were in the collection of the Charlotte Museum of History in North Carolina. They were recently deaccessioned, and I bought them at auction. If you have any questions, or would like additional photos, please let me know.
From Me:
My *guess* is 1880's/1890's but I really am not sure and would very much welcome suggestions.

Difficult to tell. They could go into the 1920s. The toe decoration, depth of the vamp, and toe and heel shape are consistent with Edwardian examples.
ReplyDeleteVery true! I keep looking at the soles (they look like straight lasts to me) and just can't figure out when those might have been popular. Oh well, some shoe styles never go out of style. ;-)
