Early Edwardian Evening Dress

From the seller:

A glorious 1900-1905 Belle Epoch satin evening gown. The exquisite fabric has a gold metallic floral pattern on an ivory background. The bodice has white silk chiffon sleeves and the cuffs are trimmed with the metallic gold floral fabric. The neckline and bodice front are made of white silk chiffon. The bodice has a back hook and eye closure. The skirt has an open panel front and the front panel has a decorative scalloped hemline. The hemline is trimmed with a wide flounce of white silk chiffon. The skirt has a long back sweep. The bodice and skirt have been relined with a latter period silk. The dress is in very good and sturdy condition. There are no holes or splits in the satin fabric. The white silk chiffon fabric in also in good and sturdy condition with just a couple of tiny pea size holes in one sleeve. There is some light soiling on the back hemline and a 4 inch area of light blue discoloration in the same area.. There is no underarm discoloration. Bust 36 Waist 28. Front skirt length 42 Back length 57.

From Me:

What is going on with that front pleating around the hem?  Did they just not finish this dress?

Anyway, probably about 1903.
