Still vibrant printed cotton day wear 2 piece outfit dating to the 1860s, simple country style construction and hand stitching thruout with pleat fan front on bodice with stays, ruffled oversleeve lined in flour sack cotton piped armhole seams, hook and eye front. Ombre blues and greens in a grid pattern with stylized florals. Overall very good antique uncleaned as found with scattered small pindot holes and two vertical tears from waist band and a section of this missing gathers into the waist band, fairly easy mend, see images. Chest 32, waist 26" sleeves 17", waist skirt approx. 26" length 38". I have listed and will be listing many early outfits all deaccessioned from major NYC musuem this week.

I have no idea why the seller thinks this is a good twenty years younger than it really is. The fabric is very 1840's with similar examples of vibrant ribbon work looking fabric made into dresses all over the place. If the fabric didn't give it away, the fan front should have. Nothing says 1840's like a fan front.
