This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1840's Dress with FRINGE
From the seller:
A beautiful 1840’s champagne satin dress with matching pelerine collar. The one piece dress has a pointed low front waist line. The neckline, armscyes, shoulders and waist are piped. The skirt is attached to the waist with cartridge pleating. The dress is fully lined with cotton. The separate pelerine/collar is trimmed with champagne colored fringe. It is lined with white silk and has a back hook and loop closure. The pelerine is piped at the neckline and shoulders. The ensemble is in very good and sturdy condition. There are no holes or splits in the fabric. There is no underarm discoloration. There are a few scattered age spots on the dress the largest one measures 1 inch. There is scattered tiny age spotting on the inside lining that does not show on the satin fabric. The skirt hemline has some light soiling. There are no age spots on the pelerine. A lovely display dress. Bust 30 Waist 23 Skirt length 39.
From Me:
Pelerines are an excellent way to cover up how badly you screwed up the bodice of your dress. Just sayin'.... ;-)
