Two 1840's Bodices

From the seller:

Here we are offering two young ladies silk bodices from the Pre Civil War/Antebellum period; one looks to date about 1840’s, the other 1850’s. Both are constructed from brown silk and lined with brown cotton. Both are in good condition overall with some scattered spots of discoloration and some tiny insect holes. Would be great study pieces or are presentable enough for display. They are very small, with waists that measure 23 inches. If you need further details please ask.

From Me:

I believe they are both 1840's. Although the long, pointed waist was popular with adult and teenager fashions, it wasn't for children. I think the gathered top was probably for younger sis while the fan bodice was for a slightly older child.
