This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Fabulous Plaid 1840's Dress
From the seller:
A classic 1840’s lilac and white plaid cotton dress. The bodice has all the elements of 1840’s designs, including a fan pleated front, a long pointed front waist and ruching on the front waist and shoulders. The shoulders, armscyes and waist are piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a back hook and eye closure. The skirt is attached to the bodice with cartridge pleating. It is unlined except for a band of cotton at the edge of the hemline. The dress is in very good condition. There are a few scattered pencil tip size holes. There is some very light underarm discoloration and scattered age spotting mostly to the skirt and the inside lining. Most are pea size or smaller. There is one 2 inch age spot on the edge of the skirt and one 3 inch period mend in the same area. A very pretty display dress. Bust 30 Waist 22 Skirt length 40.
