This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Teens Era Homemade Dress
From the seller:
Vintage Victorian silk? dress gown of cream color with lace sleeves. Probably silk, has a texture to it. Lined in cotton ticking, this has an empire waist and cotton trim. Fastens in back with hooks and loops. Small size. Very Jane Eyre.
In good condition, recently cleaned, no odors. There is a mark on the front skirt, about 10 spots of holes, the larges being 1.5" near the front hem. Some yellowing, but the lining is in fantastic condition! There looks to have been a silk panel on the bodice in front and back, just above the empire waist - the remnants of it can be seen along the sides of the bodice near the arms.
Length 49"
Bust 32"
Waist 26"
Hips 34"
From Me:
Jane Eyre?!? Ya know, for my fellow Twilight Fans, that scene where Bella's Mom says she looks just like Jane Austin and Bella gives her mom that incredulous look? Yeah. That. Right now. So much.
Anyway, it looks like a homemade 1912 ish dress! I adore the sleeves!
