1830's Romatic Era Gown

From the seller:

Antique 1830’s Silk Satin Gown with Massive Balloon Puff Sleeves as found

This beautiful gown dates to the 1830’s and is fully sewn by hand throughout. The fabric is a rich silk satin with fine linen lining the interior. Seams are piped around neckline, fine cartridge pleating at the connection of the massive melon balloon sleeves, each drawn in at the bottom with a thin band cuff. The gown closes in the rear with hammered brass hook and eyes. The gown is sold as found…small flaws are around the neckline, points where the piping has come free with some small frays beginning atop each shoulder. There is a faint blue staining which runs through the front, there is a thumbprint hole at this area, definitely coverable, left alone it is noticed. There is a hard to see light waterstaining at the hem edge. The worst flaw, someone “repaired” the belting….they glued a cotton lace atop, and its not attractive….a very stupid mistake. I would take the belting off, and yes, it will destroy the silk at the beltline, and I would use period ribbon to restore. The gown is strong, could be worn if so desired. Measures 32 inches around the bust, 24 inches around the waist, with 52 inches in its length.

From Me:

I love looking at this style but I know I could never pull it off.
