This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Edwardian Black Net Dress
From the seller:
DATING TO THE VICTORIAN TURN OF THE CENTURY
FASHIONED OF A BLACK SILK TAFFETA BASE WITH BLACK FISHNET COVERING
THE SKIRTING IN FINE PLEATS, CHANTILLY LACE INSERTION, WITH A FULL FLOWING TRAIN IN THE REAR
THE BODICE HOOKS CLOSED INVISIBLY, BONED INSIDE, ITS BOTTOM IN SILK VELVET BELTING WITH BOWS TRIMMING, THE FRONT AND HIGH COLLAR IN A METALLIC GOLD BULLION HIGHLIGHTED FINE NET
THIS GOWN HAS MANY ISSUES OF DAMAGE . THERE IS THE NETTING ON THE SLEEVES, FOR SOMER REASON ITS BROKEN ON THE SLEEVES ONLY, PERSONALLY I WOULD REMOVE FROM THE SLEEVES, LEAVE PLAIN OR RECOVER IN A NET OR LACE. THERE ARE SOME SCATTERED HOLES IN THE NETTING OF THE SKIRT, THE INNER SKIRT HAS BREAKAGE TO THE TAFFETA ON THE INSIDE.
SOLD AS IT WAS FOUND, ACQUIRED FROM A NY MUSEUM DEACCESSION, LABELED INSIDE WITH A LABEL TO THE MAKER AS WELL…SERVICE, SPRINGFIELD MA
MEASUREMENTS IN INCHES:
BODICE:
BUST: 32
WAIST: 24
LENGTH: 15
SKIRT MEASURES 24 INCHES AROUND THE WAIST AND 56 INCHES IN REAR TRAINING LENGTH.
From Me:
That is one heck of a train! Later part of the Edwardian Era.
