This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late 1920's/ Early 1930's Black Rayon Dress
From the seller:
Beautiful mid 1920's dress! Rich black, dress is made out of a thin but slightly stiff rayon, box cut, dress has a bow tie neck trim and wrist trim, drop waist with a flair skirt, side hook-and-eye.
Dress shows light wear, has not been cleaned, but in overall really nice shape. There are a few broken stitches in the back of the neck trim, one small seam rip near the one under arm and a tear in the lower side hip {see images} other than that, nice shape!
Size: XSmall-Small
Label: None
Bust 32
Waist 30
Hips 34
Length 39
From Me:
Seriously, I would wear this style to work tomorrow. A nice pair of bright pink tights and my black mary janes and I'm be happy.
Edit: The more I look at this dress, the more I think it might be just a bit later than I originally believed. Probably around that late 1920's/early 1930's cusp. The waist is still long, but the cut of the skirt and some of the other details hint and stuff you'll see more of in the 1930's.
