This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Ladies 1930's Swimsuit
From the seller:
A wonderful and rare to find vintage bathing swim suit called Beach Mate by Bergman Mills. It has the cloth tag. Made of wool.
This one is very nice in blue with belt and pretty bow on back.
Measurements:
Shoulder to bottom shirt front 24 inches
Shoulder to bottom shorts back 25 inches
Under armpits across chest 14 inches
Front waist from side to side 13 inches.
Light spotting, small nibble holes in places. Tiny bleed on corner of belt, minor.
Overall in very nice shape. These early suits just didn't last.
Circa 1920/30s era
Just found from an estate.
From Me:
Mid to late 1930's based on the waistline and details. As for the measurements, wool swimsuits stretch a lot. :-)

ROFL! I remember my mom wearing something like this, in the 1960s.
