A majestic 1880’s sage green silk and light green and dark satin brocade bustle reception dress. The brocade fabric has an light and dark green stripe pattern intermingled with a thin stripe of burgundy. The fabric has a vine and bud pattern throughout. This shows best on the closure up of the skirt fabric. The bodice has a front insert of the same fabric. The vine and bud pattern is not showing well because of the camera flash. The neckline and sleeve cuffs are also trimmed with ivory satin. The bodice is lined with silk and has a front hook and eye closure. The skirt has a very long back train. The skirt is lined with buckram and cotton. The back train has an inside lace dust ruffle. The dress is in very good condition. There are no splits or holes in the fabric. There is some light underarm discoloration on the inside lining that is barely visible on the outside fabric. The back train has some water spotting and light soiling along the edge of the hemline. (See Photo.) A beautiful display dress. Bust 32 Waist 24 Front skirt length 40 Back length 68.

I WANT TO MAKE THIS DRESS!!! Without the train. I hate trying to walk in (and get tripped when someone steps on) a train. :-)
ReplyDeleteOr having the skirt ripped out because someone stepped on the back of the dress and you kept walking. Had that happen too.
