Late 1860's Green Dress

From the seller:

A magnificent 1860’s Civil War era two piece black and green satin brocade dress that has recently been de-accessioned from a major museum collection. The cataloging tag is attached to the dress. The fabric has a small green floral pattern. The bodice has a hip length peplum that is trimmed with black lace. The front and back are also trimmed with black lace. The sleeves have flared cuffs that are trimmed with lace. The neck and armscyes are piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front hook and eye closure. The front is trimmed with black decorative buttons. The full skirt is lined with cotton. The dress is in very good condition. There are no splits or holes in the fabric. There is a small mark of underarm discoloration on the inside lining only. A very beautiful display dress. Bust 35 Waist 26 Skirt length 44 Width at hemline 140.

From Me:

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

This is later than the Civil War - the waistline tells us that. Probably about 1868.

  1. Very cool. The pale green on black makes it look metallic.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you, too!
