1820's Cape

SO VERY RARE TO FIND THESE IN ANY CONDITION




DATING TO THE 1820’S, FASHIONED OF A RAW SILK, FULLY SEWN BY HAND THROUGHOUT




THE SILK LINED COLLAR IS TRIMMED IN RICH RUFFLES FULLY AROUND WITH TWO ROWS OF RUFFLES IN CAPE FASHION AROUND THE COLLAR




INTERIOR HAS SOME HOLES WHICH MAKES THE STIFF BURLAP WEAVE INNER FABRIC VISIBLE




HOOKS CLOSED IN THE FRONT, LONG SILK TIES FALL ON EITHER SIDE, STITCHED IN PANELS




STURDY AND STRONG, BUT SOLD AS FOUND




THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF SCATTERED BROWN STAINING SEEN THROUGHOUT, THE BOTTOM SIDE HAS FOUR BLACK SMUDGES FIST IN SIZE AS PICTURED, THIS PIECE HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED THERE ARE TEN ERASER SIZED HOLES WITH TWO FINGERTIP HOLES IN THE MIDDLE , A SMALL AMOUNT OF FRAY ON THE BOTTOM EDGE WITH AN AREA ALONG THE HEM OF A PERIOD MEND




THE INNER COLLAR HAS THE SILK STARTING TO FRAY, THE LONG TIES ARE SPLITTING ALL ALONG THE CENTER FOLD
