This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Cute 1920's Day Dress
From the seller:
An early 1920s vintage flapper era dress in a brown silk crepe. The blue silk detail on the bodice and the hemline of the double layered skirt has deteriorated. The brown silk fabric is in sound condition. The dress has wide sleeves with beading, gold metallic threads and a straw-like filler in the centers on the metallic outline. You can see in the photos that the hemstitching on the sleeves also had a blue silk applique but there's only a hint of it left. The dress has a wide cape, wide ruching at the drop waist and snap closures on the cuffs of the sleeves.
VINTAGE ~ ~ 20s
FABRIC ~~ Silk
MEASUREMENTS ~ ~~ 41" length, 38" bust, free waist, 41" hip, 17 1/2" across the shoulders, 22" sleeve length.
CONDITION ~ ~ See description above. The blue silk detail has deteriorated ~ some of the straw like filler on the sleeves is loose or missing in places ~ there's a few small/tiny holes in the brown silk fabric ~ there's discoloration on the underarms (last two photos) and there's what looks like water spots in places on the brown silk.
From Me:
I doubt this is silk - it looks like rayon to be. Very common in the 1920's - just like today!
