This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Late Teens/early Twenties Dress
From the seller:
Gorgeous Roaring 20's flapper dress made in a wonderful sheer display of embroidered net lace & filet lace. Two different designs of filet lace adorn the petite cap sleeves & sides of the dress ~ a combination of clovers & roses in the sleeves & a larger, very elaborate design of roses & leaves running lengthwise down the sides of the dress and around, below the hips. The front & back is made with one of the prettiest embroidered net laces I've seen ~ one long row of highly detailed roses down the center with miniature versions of that rose along with two other flowers & buds amid leaves & vines (front & back are identical). Delicate, tiny net lace is gathered below the hips with yet a 3rd filet lace design of flowers & leaves. The dress is ecru in color with the sleeves a bit darker than the rest of the dress. The color is a bit darker than my pictures show. With age comes a few blemishes ~ you'll find some dark spots here & there, a loose seam at the neckline (not a tear), a very tiny hole at the bust line, and a hole at the bottom. I've pictured all that I saw. The dress is cut straight measuring 39 1/2" long from the shoulder seam the the hem line. It measures 14" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam with an extra 2" for each cap sleeve. The bust measures a loose 34", hips 39". The fabric does not feel brittle at all. I know lace can be cleaned but I'd rather have you experts work on that. It's a gorgeous dress, perfect as a wedding dress!
From Me:
It's not a wedding dress. This, most likely, would have been worn over a very colorful slip - maybe pink or blue.
