This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1880's Wrapper Dress (?)
From the seller:
Brown and Tan plaid cotton dress C1850-1860. Button front, split sides and open front skirt. Lined bodice. Long fitted sleeves lined in cotton print fabric. Hook and eye closure. Sturdy, in very good condition. One seam in back at waistline has opened about 1 ½ inches. Otherwise no rips, tears or stains. 16” shoulder, 50” length, 17 ½ underarm. See photos for details.
Items are not returnable so please ask questions prior to bidding. Vintage clothing is not guaranteed to be wearable. All measurements are made with items lying flat; examples: underarm to underarm, shoulder to shoulder.
From Me:
The overall silhouette looks more 1880's to me. The high neck, the position of the waistline, the way the sleeves are set, and the front stomach piece all suggest a much later date than 1850s. I LOVE the lining material in the sleeve and would have used that rather than the plaid.
