1920's Re-creation?

From the seller:

Authentic vintage WAINWRIGHT 1920’s flocked velvet flapper dress. The dress is in pristine condition with no stains, holes, or signs of wear. T he dress was purchased at auction in NY CITY more than a decade ago. there is no label unfortunately. The dress is made of black silk chiffon and maroonish-pink silk velvet that's super soft with wonderful drape. The shoulders have a gathered detail that gives the neckline a flattering silohette shown in the second to last picture. The two drop-waist ties on the left adjust the fit at the hip. One tie is 15 inches long and the other 11 inches. The dress fits the dress form well but it can certainly fit one - two sizes larger. I have listed the dress forms measurements as well as the actual measurements below. The dress is absolutely beautiful, ready to wear, and in impeccable condition.

From Me:

I admit, this one has me confused. Although the cut and styling looks like late 1920's, there are some things that don't fit. The way the sleeves are set and the color looks a bit more 1970's to my eye. And then there are the plastic snaps. Although snaps were invented and in use by the 1880's, plastic snaps were not. In fact, I looked up the patent for this specific type of snap and it's from the 1940's! So, did someone just add a couple of snaps at a much later date or is it a recreation? Thoughts?
