Tan and Purple Plaid American Civil War Era Dress

From the seller:

We are listing a variety of antique and vintage items and we are happy to combine shipping so please check out our other items and add us to your Favorite Sellers!

This dress must have been stunning when it was new. The very full coat sleeves have double bias cut bands of puffed fabric at the tops that have flattened out over time, a charming variation on a popular style of the Civil War era. It appears the skirt may have been removed and reset with a green and white cotton plaid partial lining. The original 11.5 inch (29 cm) inch deep brown polished cotton hem facing is still intact. The bodice front opening has been folded to the inside to form a deep open V front opening to the waist. Black lace edging has been added around the neck and front opening and the wrists. Only the waist hooks and eyes are still functional, the rest are folded back with the dress fabric. There are short bones in one of the two darts on each side and the center front edges.

Measurements: Waist: 26 inches (66 cm), Skirt length: 40 inches (101.5 cm), Hem circumference: 138 inches (350.5 cm)

We love our international bidders, but please note, we are not responsible for customs fees and we cannot change prices or other key information on customs forms to avoid customs fees.

From Me:

This looks like it's one of those 1850's dresses redone in the 1860's.
