1830's Bodice

From the seller:

An enchanting 1830’s gold silk bodice that has recently been de-0accessioned from a museum collection. The cataloging tag is stitched inside the bodice. The bodice has large Gigot style sleeves. The top of the sleeves are trimmed with two ruffled layers and tight pleating. The front padded bust line is decorated with pleating and gold silk covered buttons. The center seam is piped. The neckline, armscyes inner sleeve seam, cuffs and waist are all piped. The hand stitched bodice is lined with linen and has a brass hook and eye back closure. The bodice is in very good condition. There is one small pea size hole under one arm.. There are circles of underarm discoloration. Bust 32 Waist 25.

From Me:

I almost want to say that this is what Vegas Showgirls wore before there was a Vegas or Showgirls! Look at the detailing on the bodice - make this a true sweetheart line top and sleeveless...add some feathers...

  1. The seashell-bra look is older than I suspected! Hans Christian Anderson's Little Mermaid would have worn this in a heartbeat!
