This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Civil War Era Dress Day
From the seller:
THIS WONDERFUL CIVIL WAR ERA DRESS IS MEDIUM BROWN SILK WITH ALTERNATING STRIPES OF BLUE AND WHITE HORIZONTAL LINES ( 1/2" WIDE) AND BLUE AND WHITE FLOWERS ON BROWN BACKGROUND (3" WIDE). IT IS HARD TO DESCRIBE BUT THE STRIPE ARE PART OF THE WEAVE. THE DRESS IS COMPLETELY LINED AND CLOSES WITH HOOK AND EYES. I BELIEVE THE DRESS HAS "PAGODA" SLEEVES WITH DROP SHOULDERS. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: BUST 32"; WAIST 22"; SLEEVES 18 1/2" FROM SHOULDER EDGE TO EDGE OF FRINGE; SHOULDERS FROM NECK TO SLEEVE SHOULDER EDGE 9"; UNDERARM TO SLEEVE EDGE 14"; BACK FROM NECK TO WAIST 14"; ACROSS THE BACK FROM SHOULDER TO SHOULDER 19"; AND SKIRT LENGTH 40". THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ALTERATION ON THE FRONT DARTS. CONDIDERING ITS AGE ITS IN FAIRLY GOOD CONDITION ALTHOUGH THERE IS SOME SIGNS OF WEAR.
From Me: Much like last week, I won't make a whole bunch of comments but you are free too! This will be dresses worn during the American Civil War and leading up to the American Civil War. I'm going to try to stick to 1855-1865 (let's face it, we all wear something that is at least a couple of years old. Anything in 1855 was still being worn in 1861.) but a couple of slightly older or slightly younger might slip in.
