Turn of the Century Walking Outfit

From the seller:

An antique Victorian two piece suit dress in a brown sugar color (some of my photos don't show the color well). The dress has a silk top stitched design and is trimmed in a pleated satin ~ the long sleeves have hook and eye closures by the lace cuffs ~ the jacket is lined in a pink polished cotton with bone casings ~ there's hook and eye closures on the front of the pink underbodice and a couple of hook and eye closures on the outside of the jacket. The long, sweeping skirt has bustle pleats in the back and hook and eye closures.

VINTAGE ~ Victorian

LABEL ~ ~

FABRIC ~ ~ I'm not sure what the fabric is, it has a satiny silk top weave and would be winter weight

MEASUREMENTS ~~ Skirt - 39" length, 23" waist, 148" hemsweep. Jacket - 18" length, 32" bust, 15" across the shoulder seams, 22 1/2" sleeve length.

CONDITION ~~~ You can see in several of the photos that there's wear in the fabric mostly below the waistband and the satin and lace insert with the stand-up collar is in poor condition and will need to be replaced. Needs a bit of work but would be worth the time. It's a tad bit dirty from decades of storage. Otherwise in sound condition.

From Me:

Based on the skirt decoration and the shape of the bodice, I'm thinking this is more 1900's than 1890's. The bodice decoration is rather lovely despite the shattered silk.
