This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1820's Sheer Cap
From the seller:
The high back puffed crown dates this gossamer fine sheer cotton cap dates it to the early 19th century when women wore their hair very high in the back. The narrow black braid trim and black ribbon ties indicate it was most likely worn by a widow at least in the later stages of mourning. The body of the cap is reinforced inside around the edges with layers of cotton netting, giving a firmer edge to attach the minutely gathered self-fabric ruffle.
From Me:
1820's! I think they are ugly as can be but then I think...wait...I could finally have a nice fitted cap and fit all my hair! ;-)
