This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1890's Walking Outfit
From the seller:
Beautiful very late 1890's early 1900's two piece Victorian dress. Made from a copper colored wool, nicely tailored, mantel has a hidden hook-and-eye front with mock outer golden buttons, high collar with a funny wooden neck clasp that really doesn't hook to anything, beautiful front detailing, skirt fits high waited with a decorative fringe trim, box pleated A-line with large sweep, hook-and-eye back.
For it's age, this set is in pretty good shape. The mantel had it's liner removed and some of the silk is on the edges. There is a small pin hole on the front of the mantel, hole/tear near the elbow and another small hole on the other arm. The skirt has some damage to the front of it {see images} and some stress wear near the hook-and-eyes. Few very minor marks from storage, but other than that, this set is solid. This item is not eligible for return.

From Me:
You know how sometimes something is so ugly, it's cute? This is not one of those times. I think this had fur lining at one point in it's life. The lining was clearly removed - it would make sense if a fur lining was removed rather than a silk one as fur could easily be reused.
