This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Super Cute late American Civil War/mid 1860's outfit
From the seller:
An enchanting 1860’s Civil War era printed gauze two piece dress. The fabric has a small Kelly green and black pinstripe print on a tan background. The bodice and skirt hemline are lavishly decorated with green silk trim. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a front button closure. The buttons are covered with Kelly green silk. The armscyes are piped. The full skirt is unlined. It is attached to the waistband with cartridge pleating. The dress is being shown over a hoop cage and white petticoat that are not included. The dress is in good condition. There are a few tiny splits on the sleeves. The skirt has two 1 inch repairs near the front waist and a few scattered small splits. There are a couple of nickel size age spots. The age flaws do not distract from the overall appearance. A beautiful display dress. Bust 30 Waist 20 Skirt length 43 Width at hemline 164.
From Me:
Green Trim! It counts for the belated Saint Paddy's Day posts!

ReplyDeleteI'm sooooo addicted to your blog. :-)
LOL! Historical costume addiction is a good thing. Particularly here, where so many of us can meet together and discuss our addiction with the help and support of fellow costume enablers. ;-)
