This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

You are viewing an original mid-1800s bodice, done in green wool, trimmed with black velvet. It's decorated with white lace on cuffs. It is hand made, inside has bust pads. Lining and bust pads look like they are done in polished brown cotton or buckram???? Back of bodice is decorated with covered buttons, with same velvet as the trim.
From Me:
You can see a similar V-neck bodice above from a November 1866 fashion plate and yet another V-neck bodice if you scroll down to the 1866 fashion plate collection. The second plate in the collection shows a V-neck dress.
The waist length and the overall cut also point to 1866 but I know the fashion plates tend to speak a lot louder than I do...online at least!
