This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1880's Bustle Outfit
From the seller:
I don't know where to start. This dress is truly a work of art! Pictures are worth thousand words.
The raised flowers and leaves of the silk, the lace cuffs, pleated waist,
generous yardage of the skirt, the long tassels, finely pleated skirt bottom. Too much to list!
The set is beyond gorgeous and is in remarkable condition despite its age.
The set is from a personal collection and has been kept well.
Discoloration especially at armpit areas, missing buttons and metal hooks, lining fabric tears & cuff lace rips.
These are all very minor and do not affect its overall appearance at all.
I have left these untouched, as a competent seamstress could easily repair these imperfections.
Please refer to pictures for more details.
Jacket: armpit to armpit: 15 1/2", shoulder to shoulder: 14", center back: 19 1/2" (excluding tails).
Skirt:length: 47" , waist: 24" doubled.
Set weighs almost 3 lbs.
A few more pictures below for more details.
From Me:
Because of the high neck and the long waist of the bodice, this is most likely 1880's.
