This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

1880's Tanish Outfit
From the seller:
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 2 TONED BUSTLE GOWN
Label: none
Featured in this auction is a bustled silk hostess gown, circa 1880s...It has pleats and tucks around the skirt...The jacket is interlined, has no boning and closes down the front with round mother-of-pearl buttons...The same buttons are on the sleeve cuffs...The darker brown silk trim has shattered in places on the skirt (see photos)...The other fabric has teeny holes and small spots here and there...These are hard to see unless up close...The buttonhole on the waistband has torn and the underarms are lightly stained...Otherwise, all pieces are in very good condition...Not included is the round pad I used to create the bustle.
It doesn't have a size label but fits a modern size small...These measurements are taken flat with a flexible measuring tape...You have to be smaller than the measurements to allow room for ease:
Jacket: Shoulder to shoulder: 16 inches
Sleeve length: 18 inches
Bust: 34 inches
Waist: 26 inches
Length center back to waist: 15 inches
Skirt: Waist: 24 inches
Hip: 44 inches
Length center front from waist: 37 inches
From Me:
I'm thinking this is right around 1883 since the skirt almost looks like Natural Form but it has that huge lobster tail added to the back.
