This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Black Early Edwardian Bodice
From the seller:
*Original antique Victorian bodice/ top
*100% fine wool with 100% silk brocade with ruched velvet trim
*All original
Offered here is a beautiful antique bodice from before 1900. This is finely made of 100% black wool coupled with a 100% white silk brocade and trimmed with ruched velvet. Finely constructed inside, lined with a soft fine cotton in a gray print and boned. The top opens in the center front and hooks all the way up, the hook and eyes are all there and the original ones, the front then folds over to the side and hooks on the shoulder. The stand up collar is a separate piece that hooks in the back, fitting over the collar on the blouse. The top is trimmed in black velvet with a band at the waist, velvet stripes on the white silk, and ruched velvet around the bodice and cuffs. Excellent condition for the age; there is one very small whole in the back on the wool, which is very hard to find in the folds, and there is a stain on one sleeve but is not apparent on the black. The silk is in good condition, no spots, some areas of deterioration around the shoulders, but shows very well. The edge of the attached collar is frayed but the detachable stand up collar is good with a little fraying of the silk. The lining inside is nearly perfect, the lining on the insides of the cuffs is silk and has deteriorated. This is a small size, measures; waist 26", underarm 36", bust about 35", length shoulder to waist 16", shoulder seam to seam 14", the separate collar is 15" long overall and 3" wide.
From Me:
This looks to be from the early 1900's based on the design of the upper bodice and the sleeves. I have a couple of dresses with a similar closure that are both Edwardian.
