This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. Cream colored Ball Gown from the 1840's
From the seller:
A captivating 1840-1850 ivory silk moiré dress. The bodice has a round neckline and short cap sleeves. The front and back have a deep pointed waist. The neck, armscyes and waist are piped. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a back lacing closure. The skirt is fully lined with cotton. The dress is in good and sturdy condition. There are circles of mild underarm discoloration and surface only splitting in this same area. There is scattered age discoloration on the skirt. All is reflected in the reserve price. A very regal display dress. Bust 32 Waist 26 Skirt length 43 Width at hemline 156.
