This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. 1880's Bustle Era Dress
From the seller:
Antique VICTORIAN 1890’s Navy Blue Satin Sprigged Lace Norwegian Wedding Dress & Garter
Outstanding condition, showing very light signs of having been worn, but no rips, tears or other visible damage or major stains. Buttons show light paint loss, but all are present and in very good shape. Features wonderful construction, exhibiting experienced sewing skill. It's well built, obviously made with the craftsmanship of a tailor or seamstress.
Measurements :
Dress Top:
Shoulders 14" at top of arm, seam to seam.
Chest, 17" bottom of sleeve (armpit) seam to seam.
Waist 15".
Flare at botttom hem 16".
Dress Skirt:
Waist 13".
Flare at bottom hem, 38".
Length, 41".
Lace garter measures about 5" round, with a 47" total length with silk ribbon.

Very clearly 1880's from the bustle, the high necked bodice, and the sleeve style. I *adore* the dagging at the waist. Seriously, it makes my figures hurt thinking of sewing the bias tape around all those dags but, oh my! What a look!
