This is a place for any extant garments in private collections from about 1941 back. There is no beginning date. The only rule is that it can't be currently in a museum and must be before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I mostly post items I've seen on ebay, etsy, or other auction sites so we will continue to have a record of them for research purposes. If you have antique clothing in your collection, please, email me pictures of them and I will gladly add them to this site.

Young Girl's Bonnet American Civil War
From the seller:
Recently de-accessioned from a museum collection with its 1954 accession numbered tag still attached. An original circa 1862 Civil War era girl's golden brown silk taffeta spoon bonnet drawn over natural cane, with a buckram and wired foundation, complimenting taffeta bows, chin ties and streamers, with cloth flowers to the under brim, and a buckram lining. 10" tall and 7" across the face. In clean presentable as found condition, with wear to the brim edge, bows, streamers, and chin ties, some mends to the streamers, one 1/4" surface split at the back of the crown, and minor wear to the cloth flowers. All is reflected in the reserve price for this sweet Civil War era girl's bonnet.
